Boy oh boy. This chick defined what was awful about escort missions. She would step right in front of our assault rifles and take a few rounds to the head or charge right into a hail of enemy fire. Our only request for Natalya was that she took it easy and avoided putting herself in situations where she could be shot. All she had to do is fire off a few rounds from her revolver and slam her hands on a keyboard (the buttons must have been huge). However, she felt it necessary to make every mission in which she was a part annoying as possible. When you play a game as the legendary James Bond, you are not interested in watching out for a stupid character's well being. You want to blow your enemies away and sneak around the level taking out enemies with less than subtle efforts. However, Natalya was an annoying and complaining character that sometimes made our Goldeneye experience a little aggravating. Oh, and she sucked in multi-player too.

3. Navi: Ocarina of Time

She may have been pretty helpful. However, here constant nagging was apparent from the very beginning of the game. "Hey! Wake Up! Look!" It would take a hero of Hyrule not to slap this fairy with a fly swatter and go back to sleep. Oh, but this was just the beginning. Through the rest of the game, she would nag you to death by pointing out every little thing to you. If you were trying to sneak up on some unsuspecting enemies, she would assuredly give away your position in any real situation. No one could argue that she didn't help you out from time to time. However, her real annoying nature was in the repetitive nature of her nagging. She yelled the same things over and over again and here exact requests are likely burned into the memory of many Ocarina of time gamers. There were many annoying characters in this video game. However, Navi easily took the cake.

2. John Madden: Any Madden Video Game

Anyone who has played a Madden game is very familiar with the voice of this ultra annoying man. True to his form with real football games, Madden assisted us with only the most obvious of commentary or changed his mind based on the success or failure of risky plays. Most of Madden's commentary could be summed up as "See, what you need to do is get the football. Then you need to get it down the field." Thanks Madden. His most annoying presence was after the failure of a risky fourth down conversion. Maybe you trust your defense and need a couple of touchdowns to catch back up before the fourth quarter. Madden doesn't care. If you succeed, he'll say how brilliant you were. If you fail, Madden has the salt ready to tell you what a stupid play it was. It was unnecessary commentary and only served to make you even more frustrated after the famously BS catch up AI shattered your well played game.

Slippy. No character in video game history was more incompetent than Slippy. He would charge into the fire fight only to be shot down moments later. He would grumble and complain about your actions then get his own butt iced by the first foe he confronted. Who gave a frog a pilot's license anyway? For the first time, many gamers began to wish that their ally was their enemy. It is suggested that the frog's technical expertise is crucial to every mission. However, we wished he would have just stayed behind the scenes and fix his ship. When he opened his mouth, it was to ask for frequent assistance or give Star Fox some obvious to the point of silly advice - just short of fire your gun and fly your plane.
