Top Five Places To Visit In The Netherlands
With its unique culture, relaxed vibe and fascinating history
, its perhaps not surprising that the Netherlands attracts so many visitors. Whatever it is youre looking for from your business meeting, you may well be able to find your ideal venue in the Netherlands.
So to prove that the Netherlands, and even Amsterdam, is worth visiting on its own merit here is our top five places to visit in the country:
1.Amsterdam This city has an incredible selection of art galleries and museums, including the Rijksmuseum, which offer up some of the most influential pieces of art ever made. Dont forget to visit the house of Anne Frank also. This is an iconic piece of history with some amazing artefacts inside that really make your hairs stand up on end.
2.Delft This is a place that is not so much famous by name but more for its blue pottery it has been producing for centuries. This is arguably the best maintained old town in Holland, and can really give you a sense of what the Netherlands is really like.
3.Utrecht Another place that is steeped in fascinating history. Medieval castles and ancient structures dominate the sky line and there is even an original moat that surrounds the city. Make sure that you get a good look at the Dom church as well, a structure that has been the focal point of Utrecht for over 600 years. The church represents the religious centre of the Netherlands which it remains to this day.
4.Den Haag Or the Hague as the English like to call it. This is where the Dutch royal family live, a more ringing endorsement a city has never had. Rammed full of stunning architecture with buildings of grandeur that leave you unquestioning of why the royal family live here. Like Amsterdam the Hague also has some unbelievable art galleries, especially the royal picture gallery that houses some of Rembrandts best work.
5.Kinderdijk If you are looking for a nice stereotypical attraction in the Netherlands, this is the one for you. Translating to the English, childrens dike this is a set of nineteen windmills which you may well have seen on postcards and posters of Holland. This is well worth a day trip; however it is probably not worth staying overnight.
