I want to become a medical transcriptionist for the reason of working jobs that have problems keeping me employed when a recession hits the nation

. I've worked at construction most of my life then I tried to get into truck driving, well the truck driving let me see my wife and kids 4 weekends last year. My kids are teen and pre-teen and if I'm not here at home, they may get into something irreversible. Driving a truck was not my forte. Dealing with people who are already stressed out because of the economy and not paying attention to the road they are driving on. I avoided 9 head on collisions from people not paying attention to the road and I don't want my kids growing up without me. Construction was good in the days when the economy was good and not going downhill where it was when President Carter took it down to before the glory days of President Reagan who made the United States flourish and everyone was happy. Now with the crazy spending of the Politicians, I see this recession lasting another 5 years and I need a career that will keep my family out of bankruptcy court. SN:0TG9Y2ESY

I have my CCNP which is Cisco certified network professional, but when I was to go out and find a descent job with my new certificate, they wanted 2 - 3 years experience to get me an interview. I never even was able to get an interview with anyone so I went back into construction and until 11/2007 when it was almost dead I went to truck driving school. I have been curious for awhile now about the average salaries for medical transcription. I looked into several medical transcriptionist schools because I would like to work from home. Another advantage of working the MT industry is that everyone gets sick and needs to go to the doctor and get care. That makes this industry a great way for me to make what I need to pay for bills and help my kids get through college doing whatever they want to in their life. I am kind of a work-a-holic but getting up at 4 am ready to go and stopping around 4 pm is just the ticket I like. I used to be able to type 70 words per minute and I know it won't take much to get back to that pace. One great thing about medical transcription is that I can work even into my late years because I have a goal to be able to travel in my golden years and with an industry like this and not spending all my hard earned money in commuting to a dead end job all of the time, I can save up for my golden years and be happy with my decision.
