Driving on the east coast road, the distance to reach from Pondicherry to Chennai could be easily covered in a single stretch of three hours; still most travellers are tempted to make multiple stops in between, thanks to the scenic beauty En route.

TNSTC and various private bus operators have frequent services at regular intervals in order to reach from Pondicherry to Chennai. A bus journey can cost Rs. 150 for a basic option and can go up to Rs. 600 for the luxury options. A private taxi would be an alternative option which can easily cost Rs. 2500 and upwards. Although cheaper, a train journey from Pondicherry to Chennai is not favored by many due to its longer transit time.
