Birch Aquarium - Situated at the University of California, in La Jolla, the Birch Aquarium witnesses a footfall of over 400,000 visitors, a major bulk of which are students and proves to be one of the major San Diego attractions. Owing to its beautiful location atop a hill, it allows you to soak in the stunning views of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the grand Pacific Ocean. The items displayed here include a 13,000-gallon shark reef, full of brown-banded bamboo sharks; the Hall of Fishes with well over 60 fish tanks, and the Tide Pool Plaza which has three tide pools.
San Diego Museum of Art A replica of the 17th century University of Salamanca in the so-called Platero style which involved the use of finely-chiseled terracotta along with silversmith work, the San Diego Museum of Art was originally known as the Fine Arts Building. You can see the bust statues of Spanish painters embellishing the faade, and the interiors contain their works of art. The foremost point of attraction here is, however, the pre-Renaissance paintings and the ones created by Flemish masters, along with the art work of the19th and 20th centuries, and also a big division housing artworks from American, Chinese, Japanese cultures including Indian and Persian miniature sculptures and paintings.
San Diego Zoo Among all the San Diego attractions the zoo definitely draws the greatest crowd and interest. One of the largest and most beautiful in the entire stretch of USA, the zoo has vast parklands covered with lush greenery, cascades and man-made mist aura of mystery and interest. The 7.5-acre habitat is home to 500 plant species and 100 animals including elephants, California condors, jaguars, Sumatra tigers, water-dragons, Malaysian tapirs and other Asiatic animals.
