Top Satellite Tv Channels For The Millennial Generation

Americans who are currently in their teens or in their 20s are considered to be part of the so-called millennial generation

. These are people who were born between 1980 and 2000 and who grew up in the age of a million satellite TV channels, Internet in very school and home, and a constant influx of electronic gadgets that they could purchase with just a few weeks of babysitting money saved up in a desk drawer during high school. This generation might as well be called the entertainment technology generation, because they spend so much of their free time absorbing media and interacting with people through virtual social networks. If the Millennials like a satellite TV channel or a piece of technology, it is almost guaranteed to be popular, just based on the influence that they have on modern trends. So what is this generation watching when they flip on their brand new flat-screen, high definition televisions after work? Well, first of all they are watching satellite TV. They are used to having choice on demand, and they are not interested in hearing the word no. Satellite allows you watch what you want, when you want.

The second answer is a more complicated one. The Millennial Generation is as diverse as it is influential. A Millennial could be a conservative kid from an upper middle-class suburb of Atlanta who enjoys watching the financial news after he gets back from his job as a stock analyst in New York City. Or she could be the daughter of Japanese immigrants who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoys watching anime to connect to her parents native culture. Or he could be a film student at The Art Institute of Chicago who likes to watch independent cinema after a long day of shooting a class project. But despite this diversity, there are a few channels that seem to have an almost universal appeal for younger Americans. Without further ado, here are some of the Millennials all-time favorite Satellite TV channels:

1. AMC

AMC is short for the American Movie Channel, and the content that it broadcasts is largely reflected in its name. Younger people often have a deep sense of nostalgia for a past that they did not actually live through, and watching movies from their country from an earlier time can be a way to connect to the past in which their parents or their grandparents lived. Tune in to AMC and you will find everything from old Clint Eastwood movies to the Naked Gun series.

2. Bravo

This network is home to some of the most popular reality shows on television, such as Project Runway. You can see it playing in just about every college dormitory common room across the country.

3. MTV

This is the quintessential younger person channel, but in recent years MTV was losing its sway with the 20-something set. But with a recent renaissance spurred by hit shows such as 16 and Pregnant and the mega-hit Jersey Shore, it is once again on top of Americas younth.
