Top-Secret Personal Productivity Tips For Home Based Entrepreneurs- Part Three

If you are an entrepreneur in the home-based business industry then you need to know

how to most effectively use your time and do away with the things that disrupt your focus. In this article series I will discuss five top-secret time management and personal productivity principles coveted by highly ambitious entrepreneurs. They are: The time management myth. How to deal with feeling overwhelmed The #1 thing that eats away at your time. Environment. How to place a dollar value on your time. This article will cover number 3, the #1 thing that eats away at your time. What is it? Distraction. Anything that distracts you from being focused on the task at hand is a detriment to your business. You must protect yourself from ringing phones, kids crying, emails, text messages, television, and any other of the myriad things that distract and steel your focus from where it needs to be. This doesn't mean that you can't text anymore. It means that you set boundaries around when you are available for text messaging. If you are working on marketing your business, turn off your phone, and get to it when it is time. I have heard it over and over from my mentors that success is often more about letting go of what you don't need than it is about acquiring something that you don't have. This has proven to be true in my own business, and my life. What can you cut out of your life that does not help you achieve your goals and is really only a distraction? Television sitcoms? Video games? Friends who do not share your level of ambition? That brings out the next point that to a very large extent you are who you hang out with. Are the people you spend your time with people who support you and the life you are building? Or do they drag you down and hold you back, or at the very least help you stay stuck in your comfort zone? Don't allow naysayers, doubters, or un-ambitious people to distract you from your goals and creating the lifestyle you want for yourself. Surround yourself with people who have the results you want, or who have similar aspirations and are actively working on them. They will inspire and support you in achieving your own goals. The final point is to find out what time of day you are at your best, and schedule your high leverage, high income producing activities for then in a distraction free environment. For me the time between 8:30 am and 12:pm is when I have the most energy, and am at my most creative. We covered how distraction is the #1 thing that eats away at your time in this article.
