Top-Secret Personal Productivity Tips For Information Age Entrepreneurs- Part One
As an information age entrepreneur then you understand the challenge of finding enough hours in the day to accomplish everything on your to-do list
. You do have a daily to-do list right? In this article series I will discuss five top-secret time management and personal productivity principles coveted by highly ambitious entrepreneurs. They are: The time management myth. How to deal with feeling overwhelmed. The #1 thing that eats away at your time. Environment. How to place a dollar value on your time. This article will focus on number one, the time management myth. Simply put everyone has exactly the same number of seconds, minutes, and hours every day. Time cannot be managed. You can't stop the clock or speed it up. What you can do is manage yourself in time. Every day begins and ends with a daily to-do list filled with the tasks that will take you toward the achievement of your goals. At the end of your workday create a list of what you will accomplish on the following day, Have each item scheduled with a start time and end time. At the beginning of the day consult your schedule and stick to it! If you do not complete your list, don't beat yourself up over it. Take a look at why you fell short and make adjustments. Then give it another go tomorrow. Get into a routine. Make your schedule a habit. Be sure to include ongoing learning and training, exercise, mindset work, family time, social time, and everything else you want to have in your life. You can do what ever you want, but remember to schedule it! What about when life throws you a curve ball? We all know that sometimes things happen that were not in the plan. Prioritize it. If it is something that needs to be addressed right now, then by all means re-focus, and create plan B! If it is less of a priority then schedule it into the plan where it fits. Here is one last point. Be proactive with your time not reactive. For instance let's say that from 9am to 10am you are scheduled to write edit and submit an article. During that time shut your phone off. You want to be focused on the task at hand, not reacting to what's going on in your environment. Put everything in its place. Schedule time to answer the phone, respond to emails, and all of the other demands on your time. Make sure they do not interrupt you from what you are scheduled to do right now. Now we've busted the time management myth. Be sure to read the rest of this article series where I cover the remaining four top-secret personal productivity tips for home business entrepreneurs.
