- Rim Offset

Rim offset is very important to consider when it comes to buying new sport rims. It is the actual distance from the centerline of the rim to the mounting surface. When you check it, you will either get a negative or a positive measurement.

With a positive rim offset, the edge of the wheel of your vehicle is closer to the mounting surface. This means, the wheel is wrapped around the hub and the brake hardware. As for a negative rim offset, the mounting surface of your hub is closer to the inside edge of your wheels.

When fitting new sports rims, follow the manufacturer's instructions. If you don't follow it, something may happen to your steering and scrub radius.

- Center Bore

The hole where your hub fits is called the "center bore". It is situated at the back portion of your wheels. It helps for proper seating. Ideally, it should match your hub snugly so that it can get seated correctly. This helps reduce the amount of vibration. This is especially since the wheel is well centered.

There are two types of center bore. There is the hubcentric bore and lugcentric bore. The two needs to match perfectly but this is not always the case in new sports rims. What you can do if you can't get hubcentric wheels is to go for lugcentric wheels and just use the lug nuts in centering the wheels. Thus, the center bore should be equal or larger than the hub; otherwise, you will find a hard time mounting the wheel of your car. To do this, you can make use of an adapter. Recently made adapters that either lock or slide to the back of your wheel - allowing you to mount a bigger center bore over to a smaller hub.

- PCD

When buying new sports rims, it is important to check the PC or the Pitch Circle Diameter. This can be measured at the center of the bold holes of your wheels and is usually in millimeters. When it comes to conventions, manufacturers have their own but the most common is noted as 100 to 114mm.
