Top Tips For Buying The Best Replacement Windows
My product beats everyone else's.
Our window is the best there is!
If you have been looking for windows, then you've probably encountered claims similar to these. However, claiming your window is the best and being able to establish that your window really is the best and then backing that assertion up in writing are two entirely different things.
Anybody can claim their product is the greatest value. Being able to provide proof, and then back that up in print is something quite different.
Here are five criteria BEFORE you install replacement windows:
1. Most products that advertise for $100 to $200 will oftentimes wind up costing you much more actual dollars in the long run. Nobody can afford to sell you a the best window for under $200. Cheap items like that will usually need to be updated within a few short years, plus they will more than likely cause you to waste your hard-earned money by spending too much on your energy bills.
2. Assess the fine print on the warranty. Almost all of these items are only made to last between ten to twenty years. And most so-called "lifetime warranties" are only warranted for the life of the product, NOT the life of the customer.
3. Everything else being equal, three panes of glass is usually much more energy efficient than 2 panes of glass. However, not even all triple pane products are equally energy efficient.
The most energy-efficient triple pane products have multiple layers of reflective soft coating to keep out the cold in cold weather and keep the heat out in the summer. You can verify the exact energy efficiency of any window by simply visiting the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) website. Just look up the product and check the U-Factor. The lower the U-Factor, the more energy efficient the product is.
4. Also check out the Security Locking System. Most retailers do not publicize their locks. That's because most of them have low quality locking that make it child's play for criminals to vandalize your home. Protect your valuables and loved ones with steel deadbolts, preferably ones with 4-point locking.
5. If you're trying to find the best product at the best price, that may or may not be the product that is the best known. If that product is the best known, it may be because that company spends a lot of capital on advertising and high-priced showrooms. Guess who pays for that? Sometimes an independent distributors will keep their overhead low so that he can provide a better product at a better price to the consumer.
It's best to do a little comparison shopping in advance of making a buying decision. The last thing you want is an unscrupulous high-pressure salesperson camping out in your living room, trying to bully you to throw away your money on "the best replacement window!"
First get all the facts, then buy replacement windows.
