Top Tips For Entrepreneurs By Emma Harrison

Here Emma shares with us some of the top tips for entreprenuers that she has learnt over the years

. Here's number 1!

Really really succesful E's have a passion.

They want to change something, make something better, they want to change the world a bit. They want to make a difference. They have a powerful sense of purpose. They are driven by this passion - they tell everyone about it - they ooze passion. They have Vision - they are clear clear clear about where they are headed - they tell everyone - they spell it out - they engage everyone around them in their Vision.

E's are 'sexy' - because having passion and a clear vision is very appealing - people will want to join in and support the E.

2nd tip

Great E's have mentors.

They attract wiser, been there, done that people who support, encourage and guide them. Their mentors introduce them to people - they help them get to know the people they need to know. They challenge them and bring clarity to their thinking. How do they find their mentors - they ask people they admire to spend two hours every couple of months - chatting.

The E then shows that they are listening by taking action and following up on the advice. I have always had Mentors and i mentor. People who don't engage with my guidance or who need to be told again and again - I stop mentoring - they would be better with someone else.

3rd tip

Take your A4 pad - use your pen - divide into four sections, date at the top - and every day, every single day, do four marketing activities and make a record of what you did - write down what, who, how etc in the four squares on your pad. Every day. Do not go home till you have.

Do not kid yourself that tidying computer leads, making cups of tea, dealing with naughty members of staff has done a single thing to build your business. Sales and Marketing is the only thing. Do four a day and the momemtum will build. Speak to a potential new customer, push your website out to a new group, get out networking, explain your vision to potential collaborators, hit the streets and sell, get yourself in the press, on TV, radio etc etc. Four a day - never less.

If you are not willing to put your self out there - then stop now - do not spend any more money - 'building' your office, setting up systems, infrastructure etc etc. Utter waste of time - you need Customers. The easy, easy bit is the office stuff - people kid themselves by keeping busy with the flim flam - the difficult bit is finding Customers. Remember Four a day.
