There are more options than ever when it comes to establishing leads for your business. You can use traditional face-to-face and print methods or you can utilize the internet to produce all of your leads. Free methods include writing articles and press releases, social networking like Facebook and Twitter, and video guides and tutorials. There are also avenues you may pay for like genealogy lists, webinars and seminars, and lead systems and programs. The most savvy and motivated of us will vigorously use both free and paid techniques to compliment one another and get the most out of our efforts.
Free Methods
1. Writing Articles/ Press Releases - Well written, informative articles are a great way to build expertise and increase name recognition. Press releases do the same, but tend to be less enduring, meaning they are only viewed for a brief period of time. There are multiple article directories to submit your work to; my personal favorite is EzineArticles.
2. Social Networking - Facebook and Twitter are sensational tools that are relatively new to the networking scene. Social networks allow you to connect with every person you ever come in contact with, which in this industry is priceless. Use them to build rapport with people and slowly introduce them to your business opportunity. Never spam links on your status updates or spam individuals; it's a sure-fire way to alienate people and drive them away from you and your opportunity.
3. Creating Video Guides & Tutorials - Similar to article writing, creating video content builds expertise and increases name recognition. It also gives people a personality and voice with which to better interpret written works. Also, most people remember more faces than names. Both are part of your own personal brand, so anything you can imprint in the mind of your audience will help you in the long run. Another thing about video content is that people really enjoy when 30 minutes of reading is condensed into 10 minutes of viewing. It saves them time, which in case you've forgotten is everyone's most important asset, so it's always important to be conscious of. Youtube is the most commonly used video sharing website.
Paid Methods
1. Genealogy Lists - These are compilations of names, addresses, phone numbers, and/or email addresses. They run anywhere from five dollars to several hundreds depending on the amount of information provided. In some cases these lists are old and outdated, so be weary when shopping for them.
2. Seminars & Webinars - It's possible to find free seminars and webinars, but for the most part they require a fee. That being said, seminars are superb places to meet like-minded individuals. They provide the perfect environment to mingle and connect with a large volume of people at once. Webinars are more like online classes or courses, where you interact with the instructor more than the other members, but are still very useful for information gathering.
3. Lead Systems & Programs - These are mostly pre-made websites and squeeze pages meant to supplement online recruitment. Lead systems provide the user with a professional online appearance, so the user may concentrate their efforts elsewhere. I don't personally use it, but the consensus seems to be "My Lead Systems Pro" is the industry standard.
There are plenty of lead generation techniques able to increase the number of prospective clients and associates for your business. Choosing a good variety of these mechanisms would be a good approach, but take care to not overwhelm yourself. Follow a few routes at a time and perfect them, and then begin to add other techniques. Implementing numerous lead generation methods at once will absolutely yield positive results. Always continue to educate yourself and choose the route that's best for you.
