Toro 38361 Snow Thrower - Let Winter Bring It On

Christmas is coming, winter and snow - time to unearth my Toro 38361 Snow Thrower. At my age, I really should not still get so excited about the annual change in the weather. I just love snow! As a child it meant the possibility of days off school, now it means getting out there and keeping the pathways clear.

During the late spring, summer and fall, the snow blower disappears behind all the other tools in the tool shed and even though I know that winter is coming, I always write a note in my calendar for the end of October, to remind me that it is time to get the snow blower out to the front of the tool shed.

Because it is powered by electricity and I cleaned it up before I put it away, it is totally ready, so come on snow - I can cope with you now, I am ready to throw snow. Of course, being electrical means it is more eco-friendly than the gas versions too, so I am even being a little bit green.

Our house is at the bottom of a valley, beside a river and sometimes it seems as if all the snow from the hills has blown off and been dumped into our yard and down the drive. Really, the hills are patchily white, but our yard and drive are six inches deep in the stuff. Some days, the hills and the road are clear, but I cannot get the car out of the garage because some helpful snow clearing person has thrown all the snow in front of the doors. But my snow thrower makes short work of clearing a path for the car out on to the road.

My Toro is small, light at 13 pounds only, and extremely powerful. It can clear our walkways and driveway very effectively and quickly. Because it is so much quieter than my old gas version, I do not have to worry about waking the neighbours when I am clearing early in the morning, so I can get to work on time.

Another advantage of its small size is that you can use it in hard to get at areas, such as decks, balconies and stairs, but this does not mean it is not powerful enough for the tough jobs. I am not tall, so I appreciate the adjustable handle, you can change the height and the angle of the handle too, which makes it more comfortable than many machines.

Some final important points to remember: make sure you are using the machine the right way round and check which way the wind is blowing, or the snow could end up back in your face. A good quality low temperature extension cord is essential for large areas and do make sure to protect the connection from the snow. If the snow is not too deep, I use the machine like a vacuum cleaner and make short movements for ease of use.

I can not really say that the yard chores are a pleasure, but life sure is simpler when you have the right good quality tools such as the Toro 38361 snow thrower.
