I bought this machine to copy VHS tapes about 6 hours of woodworking machinery shows were recorded over the years. I read all the reviews of the machines available and proven. After the transfer of 20 tapes to DVD, it worked beautfully. I also tried a few TV shows on DVD and that worked well. I can not speak for other functions, because I have not tried. So far looks like a machine and the dubbing is a replacement for my VCR obsolete.

I installed this DVD-VCR with some difficulty because it all had to be done with the remote and it is very hard to read the labels on the buttons because they are in small gray letters on a dark gray background. I did get it installed and it seemed to work after I had it scan both the digital and analog channels. We have cable with about 70 analog and 60 digital channels. I tested the VCR record and play functions and it worked OK. I did not test the DVD drive at that time. The next day I wanted to finish the testing and turned it on. I had it set for analog and the first channel that came on was very wavy and blurry I tried to go to other channels and it went to a blank blue screen. Then I couldn't get any channels. I switched to digital and the channels all displayed OK. I then switched back to analog and had it search for analog channels and it couldn't find any, just a blank blue screen. The TV showed all the channels so I knew they were on the cable. I tried both the HDMI and the audio-video cables and it was the same on both. Evidently the analog tuner was bad.

I returned the product for a refund as I did not want another from a company that can't make a machine that lasts more than one day.

The recording quality is very good, but the rewind on the VCR is slow, and getting the timer to go "off" to add a program or make a correction is a slightly confusing process. I have gone through a number of DVD/VCR models, and so far this model at work and home has held up the best versus other brands. I like having the tuner built-in since one of my TV's is still on antenna.

I helped my grandma research and then pick and purchase this machine from Amazon. Her dvd player died and she was looking for an all in one machine. She hates technology, but she is finding this machine easy to use. It's great. Pretty intuative. Dubbing is easy. She loves to tape her tv shows on VCR and this machine does that plus tapes on DVD and it acts as a DVR. It's a great machine. She is now in the process of transfering all her home famliy videos to DVD. Some people are saying the remote is hard to read, it's not really and I for sure thought my grandma would think so but she doesn't have a problem reading it either. It's a great machine, a great brand and you will love it.
