So, for a laptop with a major reputable brand to be set with a relatively low price, this is a very rare occurrence. Lately though, Toshiba has released to the market a series of budget laptops that has gained a following. And although they have rock bottom prices, they don't feel cheap and tacky as other lesser known brands have. And one laptop that you should highly consider is the Toshiba Satellite L300-20W.

Looking at the Toshiba L300-20W side by side with their other higher end models, you will already notice the difference. The higher priced laptop models usually are encased with a glossy colour finish. But that is not a major turn off, in fact, a good number of people don't like the glossy finish as they attract smudges and scratches easily, plus, the matte finish of the Toshiba Satellite L300-20W in silver and black design looks professional as well. And when holding it at your hand, you get a feel that the Toshiba Satellite L300-20W is very sturdy and solidly built, minus the flexing that many cheaper brand laptops usually possess.

Another consideration when looking at a laptop is the available options for connectivity. Keeping in mind that the Toshiba Satellite L300-20W is a budget laptop, you shouldn't get dismayed to discover that it only has three ports for 2.0 USB input. Other connections include a DC-in, external monitor, RJ-11, RJ-45, external microphone, headphone (stereo), a VGA Web Camera with built-in microphone, plus 2 memory slots and a slot for an Express Card. The lack of a Bluetooth support is a minor flaw that can be disregarded for those looking for an affordable laptop with top performance and coming from a well known brand.

Also featured on the Toshiba Satellite L300-20W laptop is a Double Layer capable DVD Super Multi optical drive and a 1MB L@ Cache memory. The optical drive has a variety of writing speeds depending on the disc used ranging from a low of 5x to a high of 24x, it also has a reading speed of 8x for a DVDROM and 24X for a CDROM.

It's not all sunshine and roses though for the Toshiba L300-20W. Some noted letdowns in this particular model are its low battery life, capable of only about 2 and a half hours of operation and its low graphics quality, which means this is not a laptop for gamers.

Overall, the Toshiba Satellite L300-20W is a notebook that provides ample processing and computing performance for the average computer use, such as for doing documents for work or for school, and for browsing the internet. It has good sound quality but its short battery life constricts its portability for outside use. But with a low price and the reliability of a Toshiba product, this is certainly a good buy.
