Touchscreen Cell Phones- A Craze

It is no secret that the world is looking more towards a touch-generation

, judging from the overwhelming number of touchscreen phones in the market today. Its easy to fall into temptation and join the crowds as they touch their way into the future. But what is it about these phones that make you want to own one so bad. Its best if you treaded on this ground prepared, to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

First of all, a touchscreen will either be resistive or capacitive. Capacitive screens depend on electrical conduction to register input. On the other hand, resistive touchscreens are dependent on pressure and that explains why they work great with styluses, while the former ones dont.

Being an idea that has not been in the market for very long, its great to see the prices reduce to avail the touchscreen technology to the low-end market. With a budget of $200 and below, you have a great variety of touchscreen phones to choose from. As the figure ascends, the options increase. With contracts though, you can afford almost any touchscreen on the market. But if you are the no-strings-attached kind, then you need to save up for a couple of weeks.

As you can imagine, touchscreen cell phones are more fragile. An accidental bump into the screen would cause damage, and thats pretty much the end of the road for it. But fragility matters aside, the user experience is the whole reason behind buying them. Their multimedia capabilities, especially with the large screens, are beyond reproach. If you thought watching videos on your Blackberry was fun, wait till you try it on an iPhone or a Nokia X6 and you will have a new story to tell. Motion-sensor games are just to die for.

Almost every phone manufacturer out there has a touchscreen phone to their name. Samsung and HTC are right there in the lead, with the others in hot pursuit. A lot of investment is made to these phones, especially those meant for the high-end market since they have pretty much any feature you can imagine- from 5MP snappers, Wi-Fi, CPUs, GPS and so on. Actually, the most advanced cell phones in the market today have touchscreens.

You would easily understand where all the excitement comes from when you get one yourself. Simply put, the user experience you get from a touchscreen phone is the kind you cannot get anywhere else. And sometimes getting one with a slide out keyboard does pay off, especially if youre a heavy messenger.
