http://www.hummba.com is a live location content delivery system, coupled with a unique mobile social network allowing users to easily upload personal and private content to share with the hummba community and their friends. The website is currently in BETA testing and will be launching across multiple mobile phone operating systems in April (Blackberry, Android, IPhone and J2ME)
Technology
Visitors to the countries that the service is offered in are able to tune into Tourism Radio via tourism technology. Using GPS technology, Tourism Radio have created devices which are fitted under the bonnet of a car, or, plugged into the cigarette lighter socket inside the car. These devices then communicate with satellites to get a fix on the cars location and, based on that location, pre-recorded information is broadcast via the device to the car radio.
As they have expanded to countries like Spain, Tourism Radio have diversified their product to include MP3 player based informational walking tours. These tours make use of MP3 players which are pre-loaded with audio clips about specific locations.
