Toyota Expects Big From Its Small Car Etios

This time Toyota is expecting big from its small car Toyota Etios

. The car is yet to be launched. Worlds largest carmaker Toyota said that it is expecting more than half of its total sales in India during the next year to come from the new model alone. Toyota Kirloskar Motor , Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh told reporters that next year the total sales of the company will be 1,50,000 units, out of which, the company expects sales figures of Etios to be around 67,000 units. It is expected that the company will produce 70,000 units of Etios during the first year.

TKM has launched the diesel version of its Corolla Altis, today, at Rs 10.95 lakh-Rs 13.75 lakh. The company also says that it expects to sell a total of 15,000 units from the entire Corolla Altis range in 2011. It is to be mentioned here that the sedan is available in both petrol and CNG options. Singh also stated that the company expects to sell a total of 70,000 units this year as against 55,497 units sold last year. On being asked, whether Etios will also have a diesel engine, Singh said that Etios will have the option of petrol engine only but the company is conducting a market study on the diesel option and is seriously considering the other option.

Regarding the cost cutting which the firm took, to bring down the investment from the announced Rs 3,200 crore to set up the second plant in Bangalore, TKM Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa said that this figure will remain unchanged. He said that the budget of Rs 3,200 crore has not changed as there are many fluctuating aspects.

In the past, when the company was deciding to invest on the new plant production of Etios, TKM had said that it had taken every measure to bring down the investment. The production of the plant will begin this year and it will have an initial capacity of around 70, 000 units annually.
