Toyota Yaris Diesel Engine Is Very Efficient

The reputation of Toyota's supermini was scraping away by the passage of time, but when the original Yaris was launched by the end of the last decade, it was highly praised. In the year 1997 the Funtime concept range was introduced, the model was offering the buyers a brilliantly made small car with capacious cabin, an ingenious interior, playful looks and acquiescent driving style. The new Yaris was potent enough to yield some serious sales and make its way up to the top car of the Europe. The Toyota Yaris engine line-up consists of two petrol engines and a diesel engine.

The low powered 68bhp, 3-cylinder 1.0-litre VVTi petrol engine is a smooth one, but it's promising that the 98bhp 1.33-litre VVTi will get most of the sales. The Toyota Yaris diesel engine is the best in fuel efficiency; it comes with the 89bhp 1.4-litre D4-D. Toyota proudly claims 11.7 seconds for the 0-62mph sprint for the 1.33-litre VVTi petrol engine and 10.8 seconds for the 1.4-litre D4-D diesel engine. The combined economy of 1.4-litre D4-D is astounding 72.4mpg and CO2 outputs only 104g/km. The 1.33-litre VVTi claims combined economy of 52.3mpg and the CO2 emissions are only 123g/km.

The Hybrid version has excellent figures of combined cycle of 80.7mpg and CO2 output of 79g/km. The launch of new model of Yaris was intended to regain the ground that was ceded earlier to the competitors. It was also intended to reverse the trend amongst the young buyers, who have favoured the Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta and the Mazda 2 so far. From Toyota, the Yaris became the first car to be powered by the hybrid engine. Besides, the honour of being the first in this class went to the Honda Jazz Hybrid. To give Yaris a new look, the nose on the bonnet was grafted and stretched, the car was lowered and flattened, and the waistline was defined in a more sensible manner.

According to Toyota, they have dedicated the 65 per cent of the car's length to the cabin, making it more spacious than its predecessors. It has a pretty good head room and shoulder space is wonderful, only Honda Jazz outshines it in the boot space though. The interior has also been reconfigured, and now is more drivers focused. For the first time in the history of Yaris, from the centre console, the instrument binnacle has been moved behind the steering wheel, but on the expense of losing the digits-in-a-mirror speedometer. No doubt, it was quite alluring and very remarkable. The dashboard has also been widened and lowered by 40mm than the previous model.
