The first thing you need to consider is how you will use the machine and exactly what you need as a trader. Do you need multiple monitors??? Do you need top quality technical support ???? Do you need extra computing power to run quantitative trading programs?? Personally I like to have lots of monitors and current run 8 screens on my system. Next, you need to understand what are the 5 most important components of any computer system. You will want to know what are the best brands for each of these components, and Which components work well together and which ones do not. And Finally you want to learn how you can save a substantial amount of money putting all of these components together and getting a top quality system. And the biggest mistake people make is getting ripped off by these so-called Trading Computer companies that you find online. Some of these companies are charging over 100% mark up and are gauging their customers. This is why it is important to do your research! Unfortunately too many people do not take the time to truly understand what goes into creating a great trading system. On the other end of the spectrum are traders trying save as much as possible. They will go down to a local retailer, like Best Buy and buy a name brand. Unfortunately, they get stuck with really bad tech support and mass produced components. In their effort to save money they actually will wind up spending more. One last area to research would be prices. Make sure you take the time to compare prices at various computer building outlets.
