The real estate agent says the three keys to success are location, location, location. The internet marketer says that the three keys to success are traffic, traffic, traffic. It is, of course, easier said than done but traffic means people and people mean sales.

After going thru all of the hoops to learn and set-up our marketing website we now have to do the main task and that is getting people to visit our website.

Your first decision is to whether you want your traffic to be free or are you willing to pay for it. Another way of saying this is do you want the traffic right now or are you willing to wait a few months for the traffic.

The way to get instant traffic is to purchase packages of either targeted or non-targeted traffic. The packages range from 1,000 to 1,000,000 visitors over a short period of time and really quite cheap. I mean a tiny fraction of a cent per visitor. Another way to get instant traffic is thru PPC or pay-per-click using Google Adwords or the likes of other companies like Yahoo Marketing.

The alternative to paying for traffic is, of course, getting it for free. You now have to go back to school again and learn SEO or search engine optimization which is the science of getting your website to the highest possible search engine rank. Once your site is optimized there are other ways to get improved rankings such as article marketing, forums and social bookmarking sites like Twitter and Facebook.
