Divorce is a tragic experience that comes into play in many families. It can hit a family psychologically or sociologically. Psychologists would say that it is just like experiencing death in the family. The aggrieved party will go through a lot of stages such as denial, anger, and loneliness. Usual cases would be depression, and some may develop suicidal tendencies. However, others will have an attitude of revenge that may result in harming the spouse.

Divorce has a great effect on children, especially when a relationship turns very chaotic. They have a tendency to become negative towards relationships when they see parents often fight and disagree on things such a financial support and child custody. Effects to children on divorce cannot be seen sometimes until they reach an adolescence stage in their lives. Children who have had experiences in divorced families often show higher divorce rates in their own lives. The environment has a lot of influence on children. This will cause them to hold a lot of negative feelings such as a difficulty in communicating their feelings, difficulty to forgive others, insecurity and sometimes episodes of depression.

Studies would say that children coming from divorced families also show higher divorce rates in their own lives. The kind of environment in which they grew up may be one of the causes. They turn to have difficulty in communicating their feelings, difficulty to forgive others, are insecure and often succumb to episodes of depression.

If divorce is inevitable, parents should secure the feelings of their children. Showing ill feelings towards each other should not be seen by the kids as this can cause unnecessary trauma to them in the future.
