Technology has changed the ways many tasks are performed

. Teaching, learning, socializing, training, and presenting are all concepts that have evolved over time as a result of technology. The devices used today represent an interactive approach to communication. Trainers and presenters are no longer passing down information without feedback. Video conferencing, clicker devices, and the different variations of smart technology have enhanced the way that information is relayed.

Training and presentation aids were once limited to projectors and, before this, hand-made visual aids. Everything that was presented to the participants in these sessions was relayed primarily through PowerPoint presentations and overhead projectors. This method served as a sufficient resource for an extended period of time.

Technology progressed, however, as smart devices and video conferencing grew in popularity. Today there are a variety of ways for businesses to communicate with employees through training and presentations. The SmartBoard, for example, allows presenters to utilize various colored pens and touch screen technology to liven up presentations. This allows presenters to keep the attention of their audience in new and creative ways. SmartBoards allow presenters to go directly to the internet and utilize online resources. Trainers are no longer limited by the slides created through PowerPoint or similar applications.

Training can also be performed through video conferencing, and have many options to choose from when integrating this technology. These video solutions can be used at many different levels of an organization to provide training. It cuts down travel and adds efficiency to communication by minimizing the limitations of geographical distance while allowing the inclusion of multiple participants.

There are additional technologies from Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and a variety of other manufacturers that have created innovative ways to implement technology in presentations. The implementation of clicker technology has also added an interactive element to training. Participants in training with clicker technology can interact with the trainer. This allows the presenter to add a fresh spin to every presentation. It allows the users to eagerly engage without feeling as if they were being read to. It gives it an impromptu feel to the content that is being delivered.

The interactive presentations are, without a doubt, the best methods for capturing the attention of the users during training or presentations. Technology has to play a part in presentations today. If it does not, the audience will almost immediately begin to tune out the presenter.

Society has become increasingly reliant upon all the various means of technology that exist today. There are smart phones, remote control vacuums, iPods, laptops, web chats, and a host of other technological interfaces within reach for most employees.

Workplace technology does not have to surpass any personal thirst for technical devices, but it does need to match it. Leaders within an organization should do everything possible help those that want to utilize technology within the work environment. The new aids for training and presentations are becoming standards in school systems, colleges, and private organizations. Businesses should take notice of this change, and make the efforts to integrate these innovations.
