Training Your Dog With Your Praise!

We all know that we respond better to words of praise than to words of anger or when we go unnoticed all together

. People do not like to be ignored and most everyone enjoys being rewarded for a job well done. Odds are if a deed isn"t recognized, it won"t be duplicated. Your dog is no different than any human being, but his prize comes in knowing he has made you content. He is enthusiastic to please, knowing he has made you joyful. They will work hard to get much wanted praised and love that you give them. When you commend your dog for good behavior, this will encourage them to execute even greater deeds to catch your attention and become noticed. Dogs don"t just respond to your every word, they love to be touched and petted in a loving and affectionate manner. The way you speak to your dog is as important as providing it with necessary gestures of praise.

You can also give your dog praise with doggie treats and snacks as well as soft loving strokes of attention. Most dogs love their bellies to be scratched and rubbed, which also makes good ways to reward your dog when they perform well. Although every dog is different, most adore the basic petting spots like behind the ears or the neck region. It is always best to make sure to time the rewards at the specific moment your dog completes an undertaking. When you train a dog in a well timed way with a reward this ensures your pooch will understand why he is being praised, and most likely it will repeat the good behavior. It will be confusing to your pet if you wait to give them praise for a task, they may not associate it with the duty they performed. Many dog owners use their body and language to encourage correct behavior. When a mistake is made simply do not offer any attention. Your dog, most of all wants you to be happy, so ignoring them is often the most successful way to train them.

Just leave them alone and they will get the message in a big way. When you give them angry words they are most likely to see it as a reward than a punishment. Now is not the time to take them out to get to the beach or walk in the woods, they often love the ride in the car and the special attention. Take some time to do other things that do not involve your pet. Do some household chores, laundry or anything that avoids any direct eye contact. Later you can begin to retrain them again with the unaccomplished task. Your dog will soon realize their inappropriate behavior and try to correct it so that they can get your praise once more. They will sense your reactions immediately, when you are angry and upset or happy and smiling. Almost immediately this will be seen as some kind of attention and a reward, so it is important to keep a straight face until they act in the appropriate manner.
