The first step that you should take is to move the TV set out of your bedroom. The TV set should have its place in the living room and not the other rooms of the house. So, if you have made a habit out of watching TV before going to bed, then you should really stop doing this because it will inhibit your sleep. This is because of the light that the TV projects in the room. Make sure that you move your computer also. Most of us spend numerous hours in front of the computer when we are at work. So, surely you don't need another stress factor in your room.

Another important thing that you should do is to invest in the right type of curtains that keep the light out. This is the reason why you should only choose the curtains that have a darker color, especially for your bedroom. But don't neglect to take into consideration the color of your bed covering in order to create a nice chromatic atmosphere in your room. The sun can wake us up in the morning, before we have the chance of getting up on our own. This is why it is important that we shut the blinds and pull our curtains before we go to bed in order to have a good nights' sleep. If you like to have a bit of light in your room during the night, then why not buy a dimmer switch or a little nightlight.

Yet another thing that is very important to have in one's room is the fresh and humid air. This is why you should always open the windows before you go to sleep each night and also, buy an air freshener and a humidifier for your bedroom. Don't forget to also tidy your room on a weekly basis. A good way to keep you things if you don't have enough space, would be to invest in some boxes. Having shoes and blouses scattered around the room will be a distraction before you go to sleep.
