For many of us there comes a period in our life when we want to transform the look of our house

. Although other people may think your home is beautiful, to you it is looking shabby and outdated. You do not need to go to a big expense to transform the look, a coat of paint can freshen the look of your home.

Before you start on a project like this, there are many decisions you might need to make. The very first matter that should be determined is whether you want to paint the outdoors, interior or both. It's not just you who will observe the results of your hard work, if you paint the exterior, people passing by will see that fresh new look. Painting the exterior is not allowed if you live in a building that is not owned by you, such as a flat With apartments, the choice is quite obvious and it is the inside that will be redecorated with a new color. For most of us, repainting the inside is the option they will pick, which stands to reason as the interior requires redecorating more often.

Once you have made the decision to paint your home, the next consideration on the agenda is who is going to do the work. The cheaper choice is to complete the painting yourself, with hopefully the help of family and friends. The paint and tools, along with a take-out and a few cold drinks are your only expenses involved with this choice. On the downside, though, it will take up a lot of your time and patience if there are no skilled workers to complete the work. You could always hire a decorator to do the job for you, so you can go only with your daily life with little or no hassle to yourself.

Now you have decided what you are going to paint and what part of your home is to be painted, you need to decide on the colour. A small or dark area can be completely changed by covering the walls with either a pale light colour or a bright colour such as yellow. Take into consideration the existing furniture and flooring when you make your selection, you don't need the paint to be the same colour, but you definitely don't want it to clash either. Rather than use the same colour on your outside walls as your neighbours, pick one that makes it stand out slightly. On the other hand, you won't want your house to stand out for the wrong reasons, so avoid bold, intense colours.
