Transgender Electrolysis - No Pain No Gain

Electrolysis has been around 136 years and was invented in St

. Louis Missouri. When ophthalmologist, Dr. Charles Michel created electrolysis, he was searching for a way to treat ingrown eyelashes which often caused blindness. It didn't take the medical community long to adapt this method for hair removal for other areas of the body. The electrolysis we use today is a new and improved version of the same basic technique and is still one of the most effective and popular methods of transgender hair removal.

Hair removal is frequently the first area transgender women treat while beginning their transformation. It is also frequently the last part of the transformation, as transgender electrolysis can typically take one to four years to achieve.

There are two types of transgender electrolysis for the face, clearing and completion. What looks best to you is a very individual choice. Lengths of treatments vary greatly depending on which of the two of facial hair are most prevalent; terminal and vellus. Terminal hairs are pigmented, coarser hairs usually found on the scalp, beard, armpits, chest, back, abdomen, legs, feet and pubic area. They are more common in genetic men than women. Vellus hairs are finer, transparent hair found on most body parts and are more common in genetic women. While some are comfortable having only terminal hair removed (clearing), others are only comfortable when both terminal and vellus facial hair has been removed (completion).

Whether you choose clearing or completion, expect it to take time, usually 100 to 400 hours, since hair grows in four cycles. Basically the cycles include; Anagen (growth), Catagen (transitional phase), telogen (resting phase), late telogen (falling out). Whether your hair grows back immediately or will require additional treatment will depend on which of the four phases your hair is when treated. Anagen phases can vary from a few months to six years, in the catagen phase, hair can last one to two weeks, telogen phases can transpire in two to three months and late telogen takes one to two weeks before it is pushed out by the new follicle.

Once you've done your first clearing, you can expect less of a shadow to appear, almost immediately. Additionally, since there is less hair, treatments are easier and the face can recover faster. Eventually re-growth is considerably thinner, and terminal hairs give way to vellus hairs which require less time and electric current, speeding up recovery time to a few hours.

Hard and fast rules do not apply to treating areas in sequence. Most technicians will happily follow the guidance of the client, as to which area is the most urgent. The same applies to comfort. When it comes to pain management, every client experiences sensations differently. There are a variety of choices including, hormone treatments, topical anaesthesia, analgesics, sedatives and gold-plated needs which help reduce pain and make the experience more palatable.

Regardless of individual preferences, transgender electrolysis will provide you with excellent permanent hair removal results.
