The arrival of spring and the promise and sometimes arrival of sunny weather is all we need in Britain to have days of confusion wondering what to wear. This article gives you some hints and tips on transition dressing.

It is still to cold to bare your arms and legs yes I know some people feel the need to but there is nothing worse than seeing goose pimpled legs so the best thing is to mix up your spring and winter wear to give a bit of a spring to your step and to be ready for the day when the weather really warms up.

The stylish black and grey numbers that have been good enough for winter are starting to feel downright frumpy and the colourful spring /summer 2011 collections that have been posted in the media are all full of tropical colours and optimism. Granted it isn't quite that warm yet but a hint of colour cleverly layered with the black and grey ensembles will definitely make you feel a bit livelier.

A way to start a true transition into spring is to start with your casual wardrobe you could start wearing a pair of lighter wash jeans, which will begin to brighten up your look while still being cozy enough for the cool weather. As well as this years obsession with bright colors there is the whole floral pattern thing going on too so why not try layering a flowery camisole under a thin v-neck sweater a great way to start to incorporate spring clothes into your basic winter wardrobe.

If that is just not spring enough for you and you really can't wait to get into your summer dresses try wearing a dress with leggings or opaque tights, a cardigan and a thick scarf. This will bring spring and summer into your wardrobe early but won't leave you catching pneumonia.

The real key to transition dressing is layering. In fact with the notorious British summers layering is never out of fashion. There are some lovely fitted hooded tops which can look stylish with any outfit. Also, look out for cashmere wraps which can double up as shawls.

Look out for the new trouser shape too; trousers are great for transition dressing because they can be worn over tights or alone depending on the temperature outside. This season's trouser is tailored, wide at the waist and cropped at the ankle which will look great with any kind of top you choose to wear.
