Transmission Repair For Company Vehicles

It is important to keep a vehicle maintained

It is important to keep a vehicle maintained. If you own a business and have a number of company vehicles, it can be a big job if you take care of everything yourself. It is important that each vehicle has a schedule for maintenance. Transmission repair will hopefully not become necessary if you keep up on the maintenance of the vehicles, but sometimes the need for a replacement or repairs just happens.

It is a good idea to have a warranty that covers the transmissions on every vehicle. This is such an expensive part to have replaced that if you had to do it on all of the company vehicles, it could get quite costly. When you do need transmission repair work done or other repairs on your company vehicle, it is important that you have a mechanic that you trust to do it. Ideally, you would have your own garage with in-house mechanic, but of course you know this is not an ideal world, so you probably do not have this luxury.

The difficult thing with company cars is that some of the vehicles are rarely in the same place. It can be difficult for your employees to bring back vehicles for maintenance or have the time to take care of it on their own. You should have policies in place for this. One thing you might want to consider is finding a chain mechanic that offers gift cards or a credit card. Give each employee one of these cards so that they can take care of maintenance issues like transmission repair or even just an oil change, while they are on the road.

Transmissions are a very costly part to have repaired or replaced because the whole engine has to be lifted out to have any work done. That is why it is a good idea to have the warranty on the vehicle that will cover transmission repair. The only issue with this might be if your employee is on the road when there is a problem and there is no dealership nearby. Most likely, they would be able to take it elsewhere and get their money back, but it would be important for them to call about the warranty to see what the procedure is.

Make sure to inform your employees as they take care of the company vehicles to always get a second opinion with something that is as big a deal as transmissions. The problem might not be the need for a replacement, but the mechanics might not know this until they lift up the engine. Make sure that the mechanics do everything they need to do to know what is accurately wrong with the vehicle.
