Transport Chairs Move People Effectively And Efficiently
Quite often, at hospitals, treatment centers, airports
, and other places, there is a need to move people by something other than their own power. Until recently, a standard wheelchair has been the only option for this. Anyone who has participated in this process has realized there are significant limitations with this. Fortunately for everyone involved, there is another option for transport chairs when it comes to moving people.
There is a range of reasons for needing to move a person using a transport chair. In most medical facilities, patients or clients are often forbidden by law or policy from getting themselves from place to place, especially when it comes to procedures and entering or exiting the facility. This is the case, regardless of the person's level of mobility and is usually done to prevent injury and/or limit liability, making sure that someone who may be in worse shape than they appear does not injure themselves on hospital grounds. While not openly discussed, it is also a way of keeping track of people and trying to make sure patients do not wander into areas that they should not be in such as labs, ORs, or employee break rooms.
Of course, being medical institutions, there are also many people present who cannot move themselves very far, whether they want to or not. Regardless of the reasoning, such situations necessitate the facility posses something to transport people with.
A similar principle applies to airports, although in this case, it almost exclusively applies to persons with some level of mobility impairment, discounting those who arrive with their own wheelchairs. Again, there are various rules and regulations governing the responsibility of the airport or airline to move customers safely and securely between gates, terminals, exits, and parking facilities. At the most basic here too, equipment is required.
Standard wheelchairs have long been the only option. While they are an obviously preferable alternative to palanquins and sedan chairs, they do have serious limitations in institutional settings. One that is not considered as often as it should be is that the handles in the back for pushing the chair generally require the attendant to stoop while providing motive power as well as putting considerable physical effort into making turns.
Other problems with standard chairs are that they often lack any place to attach or store things like luggage, IV bottles or oxygen tanks, at least in the low-end models most institutions favor due to high incidences of theft.
These are only some of the reasons why now is the time to invest in an alternative transport chair. What it boils down to is that there is a need for a chair designed for the temporary use and transport of people rather than the day-to-day occupancy of the standard wheelchair.
This unique product is designed with a handle that supports good posture and ease of movement thus reducing wear and tear on both chair and attendant. It also has storage and safety features that reduce theft, allow for ease of access and prevent unauthorized jaunts by clientele. Thus, cost is reduced and efficiency increased.
