Travel To Morocco

Morocco has a coast on the Atlantic Ocean that reaches past the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Spain to the north Algeria to the east, and Mauritania to the south. Its climate, geography, and history are all more closely related to the Mediterranean than to the rest of Africa, and for this reason visitors are often struck by the odd sensation of having not quite reached Africa in Morocco. In the north, its fine beaches, lush highland valleys, and evocative old cities reinforce this impression.

Travelers are invited to visit the ancient imperial cities of the interior: Fes, Meknes, and Marrakesh. In Fes and Marrakesh in particular, the labyrinthine streets and passages of the centuries-old medinas offer endless possibilities for exploration. Furthermore, Trekking in the High Atlas is especially popular.

One of the most beautifull cities of morocco is Marrakesh. It is the imperial city nicknamed the "Pearl of the South". Long famed for the activity of its shopkeepers and the skill of its craftsmen. Marrakesh is also renowned for its climate and for a setting as remarkable as it is varied palm groves, rose gardens, and the nearby snow-capped atlas. Today, it is still the Capital of Moroccan south. People who visit this city for the first time can not help but to go back, is what largely explains the multitude of people from around the world in the main square of Jemaa el Fna.

1. Jemaa el fna Square.

This attraction has always been loved by travelers visiting Marrakesh. It is the social and cultural center of Marrakesh; it is a rendezvous point for Berber merchants, travelers and peddlers, reuniting whole traditional trades (snake charmers, singers, story tellers, healers, dancers, and so on).

2.Monuments.

Marrakesh has been a city of great builders whose works are still there to be admired:

The Saadien Tombs: Built in the late 16th century, parts of this royal necropolis look almost palatial.

Bahia Palace: This large palace contains many rooms, courtyards, and gardens, and has intricate decoration throughout. Interestingly, while it is embellished with the geometric patterns so common in Islamic architecture, many of the patterns also contain floral elements.

Ben Youssef Medersa: Ben Youssef Medersa was an Islamic school, built in the 14-16th centuries, with a courtyard and chambers for students.

Menara Gardens: The pavilion in this large park was built in the 16th century by the Saadi dynasty; the rest of the park, mostly olive trees, dates back to the 12th century. Views of the Atlas Mountains from this park can be spectacular, so I've heard, but through the hazy sky, I was only able to make out their faint outline.

3. Majorelle Garden.

This botanical garden is quite nice but not particularly Moroccan; it was designed by a Frenchman, Jacques Majorelle who settled in Marrakesh in the 1920s. He opened the garden to the public in 1947. Its structures are painted in vivid colors, especially cobalt blue.

4.The Koutoubia Mousque:

"booksellers Mosque" was built 12th century by Sultan Abdelmoumen. The Koutoubia owes its name to the hundreds of manuscript sellers who set up shop around it upon its foundation.
