The first form of hemorrhoids treatments that any sufferer should try is the natural methods which you can do in the comfort of your own home; these methods do not require any medicines or ointments and can really help to treat the external symptoms of hemorrhoids such as itching, pain and chafing. The first thing you should do is invest in a donut ring or some soft cushions so that you are properly supported when you are seated, a good donut can really help to take the pressure off of your behind when sat at a desk at work or just enjoying the television from your own couch. The next thing you should do is take a cold compress to the affected area every two hours if you are able. If not, apply in the morning and at night for instant relief from the itching and pain that hemorrhoids can cause. Another popular hemorrhoids treatments which you can do at home, is a salt bath. Simply run a warm bath and add rock sea salt and mix well. Then soak for at least twenty minutes to reduce swelling, relax muscles and ease pain.
Other hemorrhoids treatments can include ointments and pills. These are usually taken internally to give pain relief and the ointment is applied externally to give relief from the outer symptoms such as itching and chafing. These creams are available to purchase from all good chemists and can really help to ease your pain and discomfort. You can also ask your doctor for advice on which type of cream he might recommend for the best results. If you apply at least twice a day then you will really notice a difference, keep up with the salt baths and the cool compress and you will see that your hemorrhoids are beginning to get better.
Finally, a more permanent form of hemorrhoids treatments is through surgery, your doctor will usually recommend you for hemorrhoid surgery if you have severe hemorrhoids or if you have tried everything and have found that it hasnt helped. There are several forms of surgery available including hemorrhoidectomy which involves making incisions into the hemorrhoids to remove them completely. This is a very effective surgery, however it does come with drawbacks as it can take a long time to recover and many patients have complained of extreme recovery pain. It can also lead to incontinence in later life. However it does have a big success rate; talk to your doctor for more information on hemorrhoidectomy and other surgery options.
