. Everyone has thought "I want to be more healthy" and "I want to be in better shape" from time to time. In order to truly work at getting fit, you need to prepare yourself for making a full commitment to your health as a whole. You can't get fit if you don't also have a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet. Of course those topics can be discussed another time. Here are a few hints that will help you develop your fitness routine.

Your entire body needs to be worked on. Don't listen to people who tell you that you only have to concentrate on the parts of your body that you want to improve. If you truly want to improve your body you will need to exercise your whole body and its systems. Endurance training, cardiovascular training and strength training are all important. If you really want your body to be healthy you need to work out all of your muscles. Working on only a few target regions will only make those areas bigger which will make you feel worse!

Fat does not weigh as much as muscle. This is very important to remember if weight loss is a major goal.

When you lead a healthy lifestyle your waist size might shrink but your weight might not. This is because muscles get bulkier as they get stronger and fat cells shrink the more you work out. Take your measurements regularly as you work to get fit. You might find that the numbers on your scale stay the same but the numbers on your clothing shrink. Keeping this in mind is important if you don't want to get discouraged as you work to get fit.


Get fit with your friends. Even if nobody in your social circle is well versed in fitness you can work together to keep each other on track as you work to improve your health. Working out and getting fit with your friends can make the process of getting fit a lot more enjoyable than it would be if you had tried to go it alone. This also puts you in a group of people who will rally around you if you try to slack off or start to stress out. It is very important to have someone to help keep you focused on your end goal. Working out alone is no fun--fun is following a fitness regimen with your friends! Fitness is something that just about everybody wants to accomplish. Most people want to be stronger and have more endurance. Everyone wants to be healthier. It is not knowing which changes we need to make that keep us from accomplishing this. Don't get intimidated. Everybody has to start somewhere! There are people all over the country (and the world) who feel the same things you do. The most important thing is that now you know what you want to do. You just have to get up and do it!
