True Worship
True worship is what flows from your own spirit and soul as you stand before the
Throne of God (see angels and elders and living creatures around the throne in the book of Rev).
You must worship out of a supernatural place. If we arent able to go into the realm of the Spirit and offer worship that pours from our own hearts, then we havent experienced worship in spirit and truth.
So maybe we play Christian CDs at home or in our car. We listen and maybe we even sing along the songs that we know. But still this is not in itself the true place of worship. But if the music inspires us to speak or sing to God out of our own heartsnow were adding OUR OWN HEARTS to the song that someone else wrote to express their heart!
Maybe we sit down and read the Bible. We read and underline, read and underline, and we THINK about what were reading. But we havent yet moved into the realm of the Spirit. If our reading leads to worship, prayer, and expressions that pour out of OUR OWN HEARTS, now were entering His Presence.
We come to worship on Sunday morning, and we sing the words projected on the screen. Those words came from someone elses heart as they poured out their spirit to God. We might be in agreement with that song and those words, but it REALLY becomes worship in spirit and truth if the song leads us to worship with our own words, our own acclamations, our own voice saying, Yes, Lord, what this song is saying, I really want that, come to me, come to us to make that happen. NOW were worshiping in spirit and truth.
Theres no worship recorded anywhere in the Bible where people sat in rows and watched or simply sang someone elses words. Yes, singers and musicians in the Old Testament learned the psalms and sang them to specific tunes, but this was for the purpose of inspiring worship from the people.
-Singers/musicians leading the army into battle.
-Singers/musicians leading processions of people to Jerusalem to the temple. But behind them the people would be shouting acclamations to God, praising Him, praying all along the way.
-Groups of prophets, playing instruments as they went from place to place and all simultaneously worshippingKing Saul got caught up in one of these groups and took off most of his clothes to dance and speak in tongues, he couldnt stop!
King Jehoshaphat read the law and confessed the sins of the nation, and all the people got on their knees weeping and crying out to God, each one from HIS OWN HEART!
In the New Testament, multitudes, starting with Pentecost, received the Holy Spirit and began to worship, crying out in tongues and acclamations of praise, EACH FROM HIS OWN HEART simultaneously.
In Revelation, the elders around the Throne of God fall down on their faces and worship, no screen with words EACH ONE OUT OF HIS OWN HEART.
The songs we sing are AIDS to help us worship. Singing the songs does not automatically mean you are worshiping. God is waiting to receive something that flows out from each individuals INMOST BEING. It COULD be happening as you sing the words of the song, but it is sure to happen when YOUR words, YOUR thoughts, YOUR thanks, YOUR praise, YOUR longings, YOUR OWN worship is expressed.
No one elses words can FULLY express the worship of your own heart.
The very songs we singthe hymnbooks and now the computer, projector, and screenwhat should be the BEGINNING of inspiration for our own real worship from our hearts has sadly, too often, hindered us from really entering into the Throne Room of His Presence in spiritual worship.
Remember what Jesus said: But an hour is coming, and NOW IS, when the true worshipers will worship the Fatther in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
When we worship, we not only enter more deeply into the Presence of God, we also invite the King of Glory to manifest Himself in our midst. Thats when He can heal and deliver and change us and speak clearly to us and give us revelations and wisdom and knowledge.
We are in the midst of a generation of worshipers who are destined to usher in the glory of God in a greater dimension than the world has ever known. As our worship grows purer, more intense, and is sustained for longer periods of time, the manifestations and experience of Gods glory and power will also increase in intensity.
When the priests came forthand all the Levitical singersclothed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps and lyres, standing east of the altar, and with them 120 priests blowing trumpets in unison when the trumpeters and the singers were to make themselves one heart with one voice to praise and to glorify the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice accompanied by trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and when they praised the Lordthen the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord (2 Chr 5:11-14).
Let us worship the Lord, speaking out of our own hearts, in spirit and in truth, that He might come and manifest Himself to us in this day.
