There are three types of consignment - first is the pay-as-sold wherein you only pay for items actually sold and unsold ones at the agreed period may be returned to the supplier. The second is the "change of ownership after a predefined period". After a cut-off date, whether the items are sold or not, you are required to pay even for unsold items. This is usually applied for perishable goods such as fruits and food products. And last is the order-to-order consignment. Inventory is considered sold if you place your next consignment order.
Third, educate yourself and your clients. It is very important that you know your product or service well. This lies in an endless desire to learn more. Competition is hard and you have to be up to date and current to be able to keep pace with the fast-changing world. Your clients should not be left behind. Give them the facts that could be of use to them even if this would affect your market. Clients are not stupid; they know when they are being deceived. And they remember you for this. If you gain their respect, they will come back and do business with you.
