Try Nachos & Salsa This Festive Season

One cant have Mexican food and not have nachos

. The sour cream and the salsa make for tasty dips. The main course, though there are limited options offers you fish and chicken. For those who are not into eating fish, chicken with cilantro mint sauce and corn would make for an excellent choice. The chicken is tender and moist. The mint sauce is spicy. It is definitely for those who love chillies.

For vegetarians, the quesadilla is a good choice. Stuffed with tomatoes, cheese and jalapenos it is delightful. Make sure that you dont count your calories while eating this food. Each bite is filled with cheese, though it is a little on the oily side. Not for the calorie conscious.

Those who are regular to the American Diner in India Habitat Centre would tell you that the food is great. There are not very many places where a person can sit and relax and wolf down waffles, malts, shakes, burgers and pot-pies. The ambience is a typical 50s eatery culture in the US. That in itself should be reason to visit this place.

For another the restaurant is having a Mexican food promotion. Though the Mexican food is not as popular as the Italian food in Delhi, Mexican food is closer to Indian food. It is spice and the ingredients used are also familiar. But for reasons best known to the foodies of Delhi Mexican food is not as popular. Sad because the food is just as tasty and appetizing as any other cuisine.

One reason why Delhiites stay away from this food is probably because people have a misconception that Mexican food primarily consists of beans (our very own rajma). The truth is that Mexican food is more than just beans. Beans are the staple diet for Mexico like rice or wheat is to India.

Food promotions are able to clear a lot of myths that we associate with a particular food. Heading for this restaurant to try the Mexican food would be a step in the right direction.

One can start with a cool drink or even a soup Mexican style. Yes, Mexican food has soup. There is a choice of clear chicken soup or an onion and feta cheese soup for the vegetarians. If you find that it is too hot for soups now try the mocktails or shooters. The lemonade is refreshing and a perfect drink to go with the food.

For starters, go for the jalapeno poppers. Filled with cheese and deep fried, a bite would ensure that the cheese oozes out and fills your mouth. One can make an entire meal out of the poppers. Unfortunately, that would mean that you would lose out on the other dishes and the promotion is there for a short time unless you plan to make a quick visit again, which is very much recommended.

Dont leave the restaurant with trying the banana caramel pie that is topped with whipped cream. It is sinfully fattening. But there is no way that one should miss out on this dessert. The whipped cream on top dribbled with caramel syrup is one of the best desserts that you would have eaten in Delhi. It is extremely heavy and difficult to finish the entire thing, so share it. However, rest assured you would want to order another one. Celebrate this Diwali by having a meal here with your family and friends.
