Tulsa Divorce Attorney - The Fundamentals For Building Your Case

Keep in mind, there is more than one way to build a case and our advice that you follow the instructions given to you by your attorney

. We also recommend that you follow your commonsense.

Below is a list of four tips for building a case. Read the four tips below, familiarize yourself with each one of them, and then put them to work in your divorce case.

Tip Number One: Be Well Prepared. The best tip that we can give you for building the case is BE WELL PREPARED. When we say be well prepared, we mean that you should have your ducks lined up in a row before moving forward with the divorce. Included in this is 1) making sure that your family members and close friends know about the divorce and are willing to lend you a helping hand, 2) make sure that you are able to pay your bills from month to month, and 3) make sure you have reliable transportation. NOTE - Keep in mind, once the divorce is finalized, you will have to get comfortable living from month to month on just one income, go ahead and start making that adjustment now - doing so will give you an advantage over your ex during the divorce process.

Tip Number Two: Details, Details, Details. The more infromation you can provide to you divorce attorney the better. Before you meet with your divorce attorney for an initial consultation, write out a list of each one of your sources of monthly income and each one of your monthly bills. Also, write out a list of each one of your ex's sources of monthly income and write out a list of each one of your ex's monthly expenses. Lastly, write out a list of item of property. In the list, include detailed descriptions of each item of property.

Tip Number Three: Have The End Result In Mind From The Beginnng. During the early stages of the divorce, go ahead and make up your mind about exactly what you hope to achieve during the divorce. If you do not know how to make up your mind then just ask yourself the following questions: who do I want to have custody? how often do I want my ex to spend time with the children? how much property do I want? how much debt am I willing to accept responsibility for?

Tip Number Four: Know Your Ex's Position. Before you meet with a divorce attorney for an initial consultation, communicate well enough with your ex well enough to know what their position is. Are they willing settle? If yes, what exactly are they willing to settle for? By knowing your ex's position, you will be able to gauge how to proceed.
