Tumbes is a coastal region known for boasting one of the best beaches in Peru

. It is located close to Equator and is extremely loved by tourists thanks to its warm water and great weather all year round. Even though the Tumbes region occupies a pretty small territory it has a wide range of ecosystems.

The capital of the region is the city of Tumbes. It is believed to be occupied even before the times of Inca Empire. Nowadays it is one of the tourists favorite spots in Peru. It is famous thanks to its relaxing atmosphere, great beaches, surfing opportunities and beautiful Los Manglares forest which is known for its diverse wildlife. When in Tumbes visiting the forest is a must especially if you are an animal lover. A great adventure is guaranteed.

Another nice spot for animal lovers is the National Park Cerros de Amotape. It boasts of a great amount of animal species. The national park was founded in 1975; its main aim is to protect the forests.

Punta Sal is considered to be one of the best beaches in Peru. It is located 80 kilometers from Tumbes. The beach offers great opportunities for watersports. Here you may try not only windsurfing, kite surfing but surfing as well. Even if you have never done it before, Peru is the country where you should definitely g surfing. Hire an instructor who will explain you all the main principles of surfing and you will be ready to stand on a board for the first time. However dont expect that itll be easy. Surfing is pretty challenging but the feeling you get riding the waves is definitely worth it.

The best time of the year to visit Tumbes is in October during the Tourism Week Festival. You will have a perfect chance to enjoy the city and its attractions, artistic and cultural performances. During your visit dont forget to try chinguirto. It is truly delicious mix of soft coconut milk and pisco. You can try it in any restaurant in Peru. Tumbes region is a paradise for seafood lovers because here they may find a great variety of seafood dishes. The best place for that is a port called Puerto Pizarro. Besides offering a lot of delicious seafood dishes it is popular for its friendly atmosphere and magnificent white sand beaches.
