Tunneling Past The Great Firewall of China

Want to know the best way to get tunnel the Great Firewall of China

? So do you and many other expats, travelers, or Chinese people who just want to see what's going on with their friends over seas. Regardless of the politics of it, many sites are blocked in mainland China. One of the more sought out sites is Facebook, though Youtube as well as various news sites are inaccessible within the boundaries of The Great Firewall of China. This long list of sites is being changed all the time. Want to break through the Great Firewall of China? There are a number of ways.

One way that used to be used to tunnel the Great Firewall (and I used myself) is free proxies or even paid proxies. I used to use the free version of Secure Tunnel but it was slow as anything and you could only get a few pages in before it brought you back to the main page to buy their paid service. Now secure tunnel is blocked. Lots of forums are filled with people looking for free proxies and much of the time when you click on the link, the site is now blocked, or as with the free secure tunnel, not worth its weight in magic beans. I have read that many of the proxies that are available are heavily monitored or controlled by the government of the People's Republic. Seems that China caught onto that one and so the Great Firewall has become even higher.

The other option is a VPN, and basically means that the Great Firewall of China thinks you're using a computer outside of the Peoples Republic, therefore sites are not blocked. For example, I use 12 VPN now and I can choose from about 12 different locations all over the US. Once I sign in 12 VPN, and pick the city I want (usually Newark), I'm assigned a new IP address and can surf as I would normally (outside the Great Firewall). Nothing difficult to install, took a few minutes, and I could use it immediately. I paid with PayPal so the transaction was immediate; it may take a day or two if you're paying with a normal credit card. Since then it's been fast and reliable, never cutting out and always giving me access to blocked sites.

Oh, I forgot to mention that it's cheap. I searched around for some free VPNs but I found their free versions to be slow and complicated to sign up for. It was easier to just shell out a few dollars to tunnel the Great Firewall of China. 12 VPN is only 30 dollars a year, which translates to less than 3 dollars a month. It's the limited plan, giving me 10000 MiB, but in two weeks I didn't even use 2000, and that was using the internet every day, watching videos, and I even forgot to turn off the VPN at night a few times. If you download a lot of torrents and leave them on all day while you're at work or school, then you may want to consider the unlimited plan which is seventy dollars for a year (just under six dollars a month). You can't really beat that for unlimited access; a lot of other plans are ten to twenty dollars a month.
