The Color Run is one of the most exciting runs anyone can be involved in

, and the greatest part is, participants don't have to run. The run includes people of all ages and athletic ability and it's not a competition to finish first. The run focuses instead on fun, excitement, and becoming a rainbow of colors.

The Color Run gets its name from the colorful corn starch that is thrown at participants throughout the race and afterwards at the finish. The runners wear shirts that are white to start the run and the colors tossed at them during the race make a rainbow of colors on the shirt as well as all over the participants. Participants shouldn't worry though because the color is made from non-toxic, non rash-inducing, Kroger brand colored corn starch.

There are many opportunities for volunteering if for some reason a person can't walk or run the course, though it is designed for everyone to be successful participants. For people who want to help at the event, they become members of the color bombing group. In fact, the color bomb squad is actually responsible for the overall fun of the day since they throw the color at the runners. And for the runners, it's possible to go as an individual or better yet, run as a team, sharing the day with others. The teams who run together are lucky to have an added aspect of fun to the day.

It doesn't matter who wins or how fast someone finishes the course, the fun of the day is the real inspiration for this event. And the 5k run that is the Color Run is for everyone no matter if they can run or walk or how young or old they are. The event is about meeting new people and enjoying life which is why it's a run and not a race. There is no limit to the run, although the organizers do like everyone to finish before sunset. There's no timing of the fastest runners or slowest since there aren't any clocks to begin with. People of all ages are encouraged to join in, even including small children. The run is free to children younger than 7 who run with a paying adult.

For adults of all ages, and kids too, the Color Run is a chance to be a kid for a day no matter how quickly they get through the course. Runners are sure to remember the event as the most exciting one of the entire year, and a portion of the proceeds go to a local charity where the run is held.
