To turn your dreams of music into a reality, find collaborators or other musicians to help on your journey to stardom

. Online classifieds have listings of aspiring young musicians like you. Make your own listing to let others in the business know what you can offer.

Music will always be an important aspect of our society, as innovative artists continue introducing the world to influences and new sounds. Becoming a part of the musical landscape, you don't have to have a large bank account or prestige. Becoming a recording artist entails a lot of dedication and hard work. So turn your dreams of music into reality by getting started on your career path to stardom.

If being a recording artist is part of your dreams, there are things you will need to learn such as; how to build a fan base, obtain a record deal, and succeed in the recording industry. Identify and define your style; heavy metal, pop, rap, hip hop, rhythm and blues, and rock styles. Techniques are applied in additional genres including jazz, country, gospel, and classical music as well.

If you are more of a performer or singer and not so much a songwriter, then you can have collaborators help with songwriting before performing or recording. Most demo recordings need four songs at least. Choose original songs that showcase your talent and will give you a good chance for a record deal. This demo will show booking agents, record labels, and club promoters just what it is you do.

Digital Software or Recording Studio

There are two options when getting ready to record your demo; use home digital software for recording, or renting time at a recording studio. When recording at home get to know the mixing and editing options that come with the software. Try to find the most proficient sound mix possible.

After the demo is made, a press kit should be created. It needs to contain contact information, a photograph, list of places where performances were made, press clippings if available, and song lists and lyrics. This information goes in a folder with a demo CD. Always be sure to have a master copy and print up extra copies to submit to booking agents and record labels. Promoting your music on social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, and others is a way to create a following and reach fans.

Try to line up performing gigs by contacting local clubs and submit a press kit copy to show professionalism and sense of style. At first the pay may be small but it will build your fan base. If you build a huge following you never know where it will lead. Become familiar with other local performers, because valuable contacts often lead to other gigs. Submit your press kit to independent and local labels in the beginning. If you are anxious to expand your performance circuit and go on a national tour, send your press kit and demo to a booking agent.

Becoming a recording artist leads to many different opportunities and when not in the studio recording music, many other jobs may include: Live performances, autograph signings, videos, award shows, interviews for magazines, TV, radio, and newspapers, photo shoots, in-store appearances, promotional tours, music industry festivities, and interaction with fans. Keep on networking and you can turn your dreams of music into reality.
