Turning to Satellite TV After a Loss in Sports
Turning to Satellite TV After a Loss in Sports
You look forward to the weekend every week because it means you get to watch your favorite team play an important game. It doesn't matter what team they're playing against that week, it's important because your favorite team is playing your favorite sport. You are excited to watch your team win as you gain bragging rights over family members and coworkers who cheered for the opposing team. But then there are those times when your team happens to lose. Those are the times when you turn to satellite TV to get you through the loss.
Watching a sports game always comes with a chance that you will not be happy at the end of the game. There is a chance that you will be watching the post game show with a celebratory smile on your face, but also a chance that you will be watching it with disappointment in your heart and a fear of returning to the office the following morning. For those (hopefully rare) times you find yourself with a feeling of disappointment, you'll be happy you were watching the game on satellite TV rather than sitting in the stands next to the obnoxious fan who happens to be wearing the opposing team's jersey and a celebratory smile. For those times when you find yourself without bragging rights over family members and coworkers, you can at least find yourself with the bragging rights that you watched it with the NFL Sunday Ticket rather than in the stands.
When the disappointing (and again, hopefully rare) game is over, you can usually turn to the post-game show to make you feel a little better about your loss. You can listen to the announcers talk about the other teams that lost on that particular day to make yourself feel better about your own teams' shortcomings. You can listen to the announcers talking about the game changing plays that your fantasy football draft made that weekend to help you forget how few game changing plays your favorite team made. The only thing you might not want to subject yourself to is listening to the announcers cover the brutal loss of your team. Listening to the statistics of the game recounted on your high definition television may make you not want to ever turn it on again.
It can be hard to recover from a loss by your favorite team, but that's also the great thing about sports there will be another game next weekend and another chance to win. Each weekend when you turn on your high definition television, there is a chance you will be turning it off with a celebratory smile on your face. That thought of winning the game is what brings you back each week after you unfortunately had to turn the television off with a feeling of disappointment. That week you gain bragging rights over your family members and coworkers makes the last week when you had to suffer the loss seem like a distant memory.
