In reality, you actually get about eight minutes of fame before your tweet is off the page depending on how many people are twitting that day. It could go even faster. Furthermore, with so many people using twitter automation software and other twitter submitters, at what point is your tweet actually read. The only time anyone pays attention to your tweet and not even then, is when they send you a proposal to take a look at their site or to thank you for following them in hopes you will take a look at their site.

Don't get me wrong people, I am not bashing twitter. Twitter is a true brain child of its creator as evidenced by the number of people who use twitter. I am not jealous of twitter either because you can not help but admire the genius who really understands human behavior. Twitter, if used right can be segmented into groups that can provide instant communication for information to businesses and groups.

The greater percentage of Twitter users, use twitter for newscast blast that can alert millions of people right away of what's going on in an instance if they are watching. If they are not watching, they will get the news from a friend that was watching. Everyone can know the same thing at the same time with twitter.Unlike most social sites, set up is easy, full name, username, email and password. Yes, there are a lot of great uses for twitter. It allows for people like me to submit to others to read articles like this. The point is it is really meant to inform and not to advertise. It really took me a minute or two to actually realize this and stop wasting my time trying to advertise to the advertiser already on twitter. If you are looking to make sales off of twitter, good luck. In the words of Seth Godin, "Nobody cares."

But here is the rub. People have become so dumb downed by twitter to the point it is actually a source of entertainment. If you notice, businesses with real substance do not tweet every two seconds for you to work from home, get SEO optimized, buy stuff or get rich quick. If all these offers were truly valid they would not have to use a free source such as twitter to get the word out. They would actually have the resources and income to promote their offers to target markets that will generate legitimate responses and result in sales.
