On the other side of the coin, sending Tweets can be much less intimidating than trying to keep up with a regular blog. Not everyone has the time or inclination to write 300 word blog posts. When you receive Tweets from your customers, you should always make an attempt to reply. Ignoring your customers has the potential to damage your online business. Following up after the sale will also pay dividends. People are much more likely to buy from you again if you can establish a relationship with them.

Should you have separate Twitter accounts for business and personal concerns? I believe you should and this is why:

Promoting a website, blog or online business; Some people don't mind mixing personal Tweets with business links, but I feel that the 2 should be kept separate. My family doesn't want to hear more about my business and I'm betting that my online customers really don't care what I did last Saturday.
Friends and family; When you Tweet back and forth with your friends, you can imagine that they get really tired of seeing your business links all the time. That's why I don't think that using the same account for personal and business is smart.

Using a Twitter account for marketing a product makes sense if done right. It can be really time consuming, but the rewards are well worth your time.
