A mailing list is a list of email addresses of potential customers that online business people have so that they can tell their potential customers about the product that they are promoting.

A mailing list is a huge asset when it comes to your business since it is a personal way of reaching out to potential clients, and is likely to work. The bigger the mailing list you have, the more likely you are to gain more profit from selling your products.

There are two main ways that you can use in order to distribute your free viral PDF book to potential customers so that they will learn more about your product.

You can use either way for your business to generate sales, or use both at different times and find out which one is more effective.

The first way for you to send your reports is through offering up a mailing list for people to sign up for in order for them to receive your emails. You can give them a list of advantages to reading what you have to send them and provide them with an area to enter their email address. You can also make it more alluring to sign up, with a free eBook only for people who do.

If your emails are very beneficial for people to read with information, and maybe a free special promotion regularly, then a lot of people will sign up for your list. Even if they don't make use of your promotions and do not buy your product, then you will still be able to build your mailing list and you will possibly be able to gain money from their patronage in the future.

The second way is through giving away your viral PDF report for free on your website without asking the downloader to sign up for your list. This way, they can read what you have to say without giving out their email address. Though, you should include a link to the page and, the benefits of doing so, where they can subscribe to your list if they feel like it.

This method in my mind is the best because people, can get the free product information you are offering without having to trade their email addresses for it. Most people now have mailboxes for spam and hardly ever check those emails. If someone voluntarily signs up, "not because they are getting a freebie", then they will use a mailbox they check daily.

Either way you choose to send out your viral PDF, you should be able to build a mailing list. The difference will be in the quality and responsiveness of your lists.
