Physical computer cleanup is also a must to make sure that the hardware itself will last longer.

Hardware Computer Cleanup

As time goes by, your computer hardware will accumulate dust at the surface as well as inside. Your central processing unit (CPU) tower is very effective in catching this dust and contaminant, due to the fans that are usually running at the back for the power supply and at the side for the cooling system of the processor. This dust and other particles goes in with the air that circulates inside the central processing unit tower and sticks to your computer components like cables, processor heat sink, hard drive, memory and to the fans themselves.

The computer component is sensitive to static electricity, the energy that is generated when you rub two hard objects together. This is being produced when you wipe your computer components with an ordinary cloth. It is not recommended to use any liquid to remove unwanted dust particles. The best way to clean the components inside your CPU is by using a compressed air in a can, or a vacuum cleaner. These two options ensure that the dust and other contaminants will be sucked or blown away from the system instead of just transferring it to other components.

Software computer clean up entails removing adware, spyware, viruses, and temporary internet files. These things cause your computer to bog down frequently or slow it down. Having an anti virus and anti spyware software installed is not enough. It is important that you keep them updated and do virus or spyware scan every week. Every time you connect to the internet, temporary files are being saved on your computer in order for you to browse faster the next time you use the internet. Once these temporary files accumulate, it will slow down your computer by eating up your hard drive and memory space.

These are the basic things that you need to remember in order to maintain your computer properly. Prevention is better than cure and it applies to your computer system too. Besides maintenance, it is important for you to learn how to setup a new pc as well.
