Types Of Dental Implants
If you have gaps in your smile and need to compensate for these
, dental implants may be the long term answer you are looking for.
Dental implants have changed the dentistry industry, no longer making it impossible to replace your teeth. These will be put into the jawbone. These will give good support to your teeth structure and lasts longer than dentures or dental bridges do. They function as the artificial root, to which the new teeth will be bonded.
Types of dental implants
Root implant This is the most commontype, as it is extremely effective and will closely resemble the look and size of the tooth that it is to replace. After the dentist has injected the local anesthesia, he will draw an incision in the gum and expose the jawbone. Once this is done, the bone will then be prepared and the dental implant will be placedin the jawbone. Once this is finished, the dentists will stitch the gum and prescribe some medication, if it is required.
Plate form implant This is another type of dental implant and is suitable if your jawbone is not as wide as is required for a root implant. This type of implant is thin and long, in contrast to the root implant, and can be put into thin jawbones. The process of inserting the implant is similar to a root implant.
Subperiosteal implant This method is generally used in cases where the jawbone has been lost to such an extent that it will not be able to support a proper implant. In this procedure, these implants will be put over the bone, not in the jawbone, which is the case with the alternative methods. The dentist will inject the local anesthesia and then prepare an impression of the jawbone and the mouth. This impression will be sent to the lab, where it will be used to customize the implants so that they will be able to fit your jaw. The dentist will expose the jawbone and put the dental implant over it. During the course of the following month, the gum will come up and surround the implant. This implant can generally be done with one procedure by using a CAT scan of the jawbone and the gum line.
As is the case with any dental procedure, you should make sure that you practice good dental hygiene. This is more important once you have a dental implant in place. If gums and teeth are not cleaned properly, bacteria could attack the sensitive areas. This could make the gum swell and the jawbone will eventually start receding. Therefore, schedule an appointment with your nearest Chandler dentist so that you can start filling those gaps in your smile.
