UFC 119 Prediction Frank Mir to KO Cro Cop by Geoff Mackay
Four years ago, Cro Cop was one of the best fighters in MMA but this is 2010 this it is a very different story

Look for Frank Mir to dominate the striking and KO Cro Cop in this fight. Mir has been working on his boxing lately and has developed some great technique. Mir has developed a good jab and cross upper cut combo and his hands are always up to deflect shots. It will surprise most people but Mir will dominate Cro Cop in the stand up striking department.
Mir will pose a lot of problems for Cro Cop and given his current conditioning, his striking has become more and more ineffective. The Croatian can only throws heavy shots now and does not mix up his punches while Mir throws multiple strikes. Mir has already taken good strikers UFC fighters like Cheick Kongo, Tim Sylvia, Antoni Hardonk while Crop Cop has not fared well in the UFC.
It is likely Mir is going take Cro Cop against that octagon and use strikes and uppercuts to make short work of Cro Cop.
However, when this fight hits the ground Mir will dominate Cro Cop. Mir has one of the best bottom games in mixed martial arts as he has very active hips and can submit almost everyone from his guard. Mir also has great leg locks and knee bars.
Though Cro Cop's his last submission win was over Pat Berry it was very sloppy and he was able to choke him out without putting his legs in for the rear naked choke.
Mir on the other hand has a much better grappling pedigree. He received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in 2004 from Ricardo Pires after only five years of training and has also worked with BJJ black belt Eddie Bravo who is known for his unique style of no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaching him the rubber guard and other no gi grappling techniques that Cro Cop has not seen before.
Mir will take Cro Cop apart in this fight as Cro Cop is no longer the fighter he once was and Mir is hungry to get back into the UFC heavyweight title mix.
Though I expect Mir to down Cro Cop in the first round with strikes, a nice sized prop bet on a first round stoppage in addition to the sports bet would work.
