UK Tuition Fees, Restrictions on Private Colleges and the UK University System
This week at least, not anything else to talk about. Ministers are pushing their tuition fees scheme to a vote on Thursday. In the midst of the hullabaloo of protestors shouting about broken promises, by liberal Democrats, Tuition fees: Is it the beginning of the end for the coalition? This politics-over-economics is visible in matters of new regulations in new student visa regulations and tuition fees increase
I see the current crisis is because of introduction of PBS and to take away the discretion of Entry Clearance officer's discretion and the failure to maintain the standards of private colleges but the Government seems not understand this instead it is trying to please the Middle Class British, The one who voted mostly for the Conservatives
The Matter of Private Colleges, the Government policy was never to give level playing field with the State Colleges or Universities
From Students perspective I have always promoted quality education not education based on brands, place or heritage, generally speaking, UK Universities has come long way They began in the Middle Ages, which are considered to have lasted from the 5th to the 15th century. Oxford began in the 12th century and Cambridge in the 13th century. Those days it was simply training colleges for the clergy. Subject studied in depth was theology. In Modern times they have championed the art of selling and branding, now education has become a mere economic commodity. In Today's Job market UK degrees have a global recognition than local degrees - According to Richard C. Levin, President of Yale University in his writing in the current issue of the journalForeign Affairs, he argueswhile the ambitions of Asian Universities are unparalleled, their teaching often " focuses on the mastery of content, not on the development of the capacity for independent and critical thinking"- What I would emphasize is that many third world countries have a good education system and are good in pure sciences such as mathematics etc.. Ideally you should opt for a top rated university for masters or doctorate or any research studies, those top universities are equipped with state of the art infrastructure and Laboratory Facilities supported by top academics
