UPS Power Protection System- The Device

As mentioned earlier, this is a device that is attached to the appliances at one end and the battery backup at the other end. The main function of the device is to create electricity to run the attached appliances during the power cuts and surges. DC current is made into AC current which later helps in running the appliances attached to the UPS.

Types of the UPS Power Protection Systems

There are two main types of UPS(s), the offline or Standby Power Supply and the Line-Interactive Power Supply. These two devices are categorized depending upon the nature of the connectivity of the battery to the main line. The Standby Power Supply is the device generally used at home. Here, the battery is attached to the parallel lines of the main supply. The device needs some time to generate electricity during the power cuts, as a result the attached appliances turn off. You either need to manually turn on the appliances or else they can start if put in auto mode. This gap of production of the electricity and the cuts make the UPS unsuitable for office use.

The Line-Interactive Power Supply is the UPS where the battery is connected to the main line directly. As a result the battery remains in ON mode always. During the power cut the battery starts discharging and produces electricity to run the attached appliances. When there is actual current the battery recharges itself. Due to the continuous ON mode the electricity starts producing instantly and during the cuts the appliances don't stop even for a fraction of seconds. Hence, this power protection system is good enough for office use.

You can now buy both types of the UPS power protection system from online stores. These stores will not only sell you the devices but will also send servicemen to install the devices. There are two types of devices, the Standby Power Supply is used at homes and the Line-Interactive Power Supply is used in the offices.
